The Saree is an Indian female garment that consists of a drape varying in length and breadth. The style of the drape and the fabric plays an important role in the occasion that it is worn. Cottons are more of a casual wear and silk sarees are worn during important festivals like Diwali, Pongal and wedding celebrations. Sarees made of silk are wonderful to drape and comfortable to walk in.
In the South, an authentic silk saree is always associated with one that is woven in Kanchipuram, a small town where silk weavers are housed. Kanchipuram is approximately 75 kms from Chennai (2.5 hours by road).
