Kasavu Saree is regarded as the cultural costume of women in the state of Kerala. The grace and the appeal of the golden borders complement with the otherwise plain off-white saree of the Keralite women. Originally known as Mundum Neriyathum, the saree is worn by women of all ages to celebrate the festival of Onam in Kerala. The golden ornamental border is called Kasavu and is usually made of either gold, copper plated, or artificial material and this denotes the price of the Saree. The fabric is usually cotton, hand woven. This Saree is also called Kerala Mundu, Set Mundu, Set Saree, Set Veshti and Mundu Saree.
